CA 2007: Multimedia Express
Apr 11th
Preparation for CA2007 continues. You can see something close to what I’ll be presenting at https://breeze.le.ac.uk/ca2007/.
It’s an introduction to weblogs for people who view the internet with some suspicion. If you know what a weblog is, then it’s probably nothing new for you. I’m going to try and get something written for tomorrow on blogging for beginners, so I can include it in the handout. This talk will be in the middle of other talks on traditional publishing in the CUCD session, which is why I’ve steered clear of Open Access for now, as that would be two radical ideas in one talk. After the weekend I’ll be here a lot less as there’s other work I need to finish.
I’m still experimenting with Breeze. Express is definitely the right word for this. Like a bad workman I’m going to blame it for speeding me up. I know I can talk quickly and that I trimmed some gaps from the audio recording, but I don’t think I talked that quickly. Hopefully my talk at Birmingham will be slower. Though the online version seems slower than my local version. It’s also 32MB, so it’s broadband only.
I doubt that it will get masses of More >
Clioaudio: Who is Buried in the Tomb of Jesus?
Mar 21st
It’s just occurred to me I forgot to mention Clioaudio episode two here. It’s out of date now, as it’s the Tomb of Jesus, but if you missed it it’s below:
[audio http://www.podtrac.com/pts/redirect.mp3?http://www.clioaudio.com/audio/clioaudio2-tombofjesus.mp3]I mention it as I’m working on finishing episodes three and four. The plan was to produce an episode on the Pagan reburial story that was in the Guardian a while back. What happened is I got two very good interviews about the treatment of human remains, so I’ve split it into two managable episodes. Three should be uploaded after the weekend and four follow after around a week later.
Hopefully I’ll also get a couple of blog entries written up tomorrow too. I have news from Bosnia and also a review of Archaeology is a Brand! to write.
Introducing Clioaudio
Feb 25th
Following Aydin’s advice I’ve tried to go with something simple, but the simpler you go the more likely it is that the name.com has been taken. I’ve settled on Clioaudio.I was wary of using Clio in the title, as I don’t want to cause confusion with Clioweb, Cliopatria, Spinning Clio and so on, but decided that Clio- was probably generic enough to avoid confusing one with the other.
This is the first pilot which is still a bit of a test file. I need to work on recording from phones and also on my esses. This is why I prefer to have someone else in front of the microphone. Oh, and my interview technique.
In the medium term I may be moving newsy posts to Clioaudio with the intention of getting syndicated on NewsNow.
